Ramon Clemente spent years playing basketball before he took over Beyond the Game, our program for athletes working out what comes after sports. This year he became the program's best argument.
Ramon passed the CompTIA Tech+ and Network+ exams, studying under Kobie Joyner, the instructor for his cohort's certification track. Neither exam is a formality. Tech+ covers hardware, software, and troubleshooting fundamentals. Network+ covers how systems connect, and a lot of people fail it at least once. Ramon passed both, and his next target is Security+.
He's not just collecting certs. Less than a year into the transition, Ramon is building apps, leaning on AI tools to prototype things that used to require a whole team.
The reason we're writing about this: Ramon asks his students to believe a former athlete can start over in tech. It's a much easier ask when the guy running the program just did it.
